If the male of this species is considered purple then so can this branch. What beautiful birds, and I do not often get the chance to photograph them. Inclement weathered really added mood the that day's session.

Dan this bird looks like it's hanging on against the wind and snow which captures the weather you had to work in,bird looks excellent with those bits of snow, beautiful job.

A superb stormy image. I love the dominant colour of these birds but also the subtle hues in the wing giving way to green and brown. All round excellent work.

Given my very little birding experience, this is a new species to me. I think what really makes the image is the little snow on the crown and the falling snow in the background. Beautiful, Dan!

What a great capture. The bird is beautiful, but it's the wind and snow that put this over the top.

The colours go great together. Everything just 'flows' perfectly.

Love the wind, the tension, the colors, and especially the detail in the folded wing. a

Real winter feel with the blowing snow. Colors and details are superb and the perch is just perfect. Well done.

Excellent image Daniel! I like the pose, perch, IQ, composition and driving snow really adds to the image.
