Asian Pied Starling, a very common bird around here (in Bangladesh). Caught this one at dusk at the end of an otherwise fruitless outing. ISO 4000/ 1/2000 sec/ f4.5 / 1DM4 + 500mm f4. Tried NR on the bg using PS5 but did not seem to work too well (I like LR3's noise-reduction much better but cannot select.) C/C welcome. Thanks for looking. Ihtisham

The image is a little noisy, you can reduce the noise and mask the sharpening in ACR to give a cleaner image. Is it a crop - if so I would reduce the crop this will also serve to reduce the noise.

    Ihtisham:

Good preening pose, obviously concentrating on the job! As you noted, and Jon commented on, the noise remains a problem. You could try a gaussian blur on the bg as well as extra noise reduction, to soften its impact.

    Cheers

The bird is loverly. The EXP is good. Aside from the noise that can be dealt with easily, the perch is a God-awful mess :) Ihtisham, did you put that perch up and attract the bird?

Preening pose is interesting but the bird's head, particularly the bill, is angled away from us too much... a

Thanks Artie for your comments. The perch is a leftover pole used for vegetable gardening. This one is convoluted, but there are nice bamboo ones around too. Would have liked the compete bill but you think the head should have been angled more towards us? Ok, will look for that next time. Ihtisham
