Excellent work Keith. Good and accurate colours and a bird that featured in my youth so much. Sadly numbers decreased significantly.

A nice, well-defined and well-executed portrait, the kind that I try to remember to identify the bird. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Keith, you beat me to it with this subject , as I've been watching them with the Hedge sparrows whilst doing some intel on the owls.

Sweet subject and the green backdrop really provides punch to the subject, albeit that I think you could back off on any NR/Blur as the BKG is a wee bit too smooth, but that might be because of the ISO? Nice detail, I think perhaps you could have gone to f/9 with the ISO & SS. I would rotate it so the beam is horizontal, however as posted it's a wee bit tight, not sure if this is FF or not? I might just evict what looks like seed and the odd white spots, looks cleaner.

Lovely yellowhammer, we don't have any locally now, last one seen was about 3 years ago. I think Steve is along the right track the background is a bit in your face, I would also consider desaturating it slightly.
