    Default Common Ground Dove

I don't get the opportunity to slither around on the beach living in New Mexico, but here's a ground-level photo of a Common Ground Dove taken in Texas. Good practice for when I get to Florida! :)

Great image Doug. Isn't it amazing how pretty most common doves can be when you see them close up like this? I think most of us are guilty of not photographing the common birds on our doorsteps but always look for something special. We're the losers! Love the graduated background.

Good point David! Doves are a dime a dozen, but this is a dove that I'd not had the pleasure of photographing until last month.

Stunning image Doug !!! Love the low and angle and composition but prticularly like the beautiful soft pastel tones in this capture. As already mentioned some of the birds that we see on a regular bais are incredibly beautiful if we take the time to really look at them. I feel that way about the cormorant that we seen everyday here in Florida. Great image and thanks for sharing this with us.

Great angle, light, BG and details and beautiful bird. I think the local equivalent would be the starling, not well liked but the plumage looks great.

Nice work Doug. I have many fine images of the doves. Though common they are quite handsome birds. The Florida ones are a bit goofy though.

    What a beauty!!!
The soft light and "western" colored BG really make the bird pop.

This dove's face pops nicely against that smooth BG. I really like the cool looking red eye.

It is always rewarding to get a remarkable image of an unremarkable subject. Well done.

Doves are so pretty even as they may be common. Fantastic light, and image.
