Default Getting up from having a rest

Hello folks this Indian Rhino youngster got up from having rest when we , with a riding elephant , approached him and mom .
But just only to have a look what is coming there, as soon as he felt safe he layed down again to rest .
As always i would like to gone lower , but sitting on the elephant back does never give a low POV so one has to take the higher POV .
The mornings has always been very foggy at the location , so tried to keep the coolness and the foggy look & feel at the time of shooting .

I could have pushed the tonal contrast / clarity but did not for the reason mentioned above . I could also have gone in tighter with my crop , but wanted to avoid too much of pixel bashing .

    Canon EOS 1D x
    EF 70-200 IS L + 2x TC at 400 mm
    HH from rocking elephant back

F 6,3 ; Iso 2000 ; 1/1000 with hindsight i might have pushed the Iso a tad more for more SS

Process with DPP 4 and PS CC ; cropped for comp to 75 % of FF

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, a wonderful look at this little OHR kid. I am glad you got a clear shot of the head. I am ok with crop, details look nice and so does the sharpness. The egrets add some playful fun element with one riding and the other looks as if it's pecking the rear

Lovely tones and textures in the rhino, I think I would risk a slightly larger crop with a similar composition. I appreciate the egret is probably slightly out of focus but I would consider another round of sharpening on it.

Hi Andreas -- Lovely scene and feel to it ! beautiful colours and tones and glad that you retained the early morning feel to it.
I would have gone for the crop from the top, RHS and bottom , but you had a point to not crop further and that is perfectly fine .

    TFS !

    Andreas, welcome back mein freund
I like this a lot, the soft light, pleasing tones and the pose + flying egret makes it catch the eye nicely.
I am looking forward to more from your trip!

Hi Andreas - Another fun image. I like the misty morning feel to the image and the cool tones. Yes, to a little more ss but you get the sense of sudden movement here. Egrets add to that sense. Looking forward to more.

    Rachel

Hi Andreas, I like the amount of space here, gives the subject room to breathe. Agree, you could have gained more SS, especially shooting from the mighty height of an elephant, not easy, were you sitting on the side in a 'cradle'?

    Hi Andreas

Love this little guy with his "protective" breast and shoulder pads.
The little one is sharp, I do not understand how a faster SS would be and improvement...?
Yes, the POV is higher, but you were shooting from an elephant.. we shoot from a Land Cruiser...?
The Egrets are not sharp, they do not have to be.
Nice detail in darks, no blown HL in egrets.
    Comp works for me.
Hope you enjoyed your early morning Elllie ride.
    Cheers Buthi..
    Regards

    Andre.

    Superb capture, Andreas!

What a delightful image! Love everything about it, including those naughty egrets... Wonderful pose from the subject, he makes me think of a rabbit, LOL.

Content is so good, I cannot think of techs...Well exposed, lovely colours, sharpness in good measure. I would take off a tad from the top, see what it looks like?

Nice detail on the rhino, love that pink chest. The look/expression from the subject is priceless. I cannot tell you how much I like this, it is one of the most attractive images you have shared so far, beats the seals...

Hope you print this Boetie, and I want a copy

    Nite Andreas, lekker slaap:)
