This was taken in the morning when the fog was burning off rapidly (hence none in the foreground). I added a little negative Dehaze in LR on the background and converted to black and white in Nik Silver Efex Pro. Thanks for looking.

The tonal contrast and difference in scale between the foreground and background are magnificent. The opposing lines of the poles and gondolas works well, too. That tower on the right bothers me some because it appears at first glance to be part of the post. I wonder about trying to make it recede into the fog or eliminating it altogether. This works beautifully as a black and white.

Dennis said it for me -- magnificent! The depth from the atmospheric perspective is very well done, and the composition is compelling.

Agree about the tower on the right.

Thanks, Dennis and Diane. Dennis, the tower had subliminally bothered me so thank you for bringing it into my conscious mind. At first, I thought it was from a structure in the background and wouldn't have considered moving it - I was going to lighten and give it some negative clarity. But after going back and examining the other posts it is actually part of the post (although badly askew). So I had no problem removing it - I think it improves the image. Hopefully you and Diane do too

Part of the post . . . I kept wondering why it was darker and more contrasty than the buildings in the background. It seemed like maybe it was closer than they were. It was a lot closer. It's so dissimilar from the rest of the post, I'd never have guessed. I do like it better without it.

Very well done, Cheryl! I much prefer the 2nd post. Also totally agree with Dennis about the excellent composition of the vertical and horizontal elements, and the sharp relief & details of the foreground vs. the paleness of the background.

Lovely image. Beautiful details!! 2nd version if best. I wish there were some way to show that it is fog that is causing the distant parts of the image to be less contrasty. This is something I haven't figured out in my own images.
