Hi Jon, lovely image and I really like the comp and choice of perch, interesting/creative and away from the rather pedestrian perch we often see.

Personally I might have gone for a little higher in frame, but that is just my taste. Also more DoF as you could easily push that ISO and gain a sliver more on the SS too. Killer backdrop, enjoyed viewing this thanks.

    Hope to see more.

The bird, the perch and the background all lovely. The detail on the bird and the colouring is very good with no burn out or blocked shadows. I like the pose and slight head turn. Nice image

Jon I know it's almost impossible with the composition but just a tad more on the left would have been great, and this is being ultra picky on what in my opinion is an" excellent" image in every way, sure wish it was mine.

Good job choosing this perch. I love the BG, and the bird looks pretty darn good too. I even like the piece of debris on the bill.

Beauty image, Jon. I made a little adjustment to the perch and composition. It's minor and I hope you like it.

Jon I said how much i like your OP,Karl's version with a little to the left just puts the icing on what is already a very nice cake.

As soon as I saw this image I knew that if mine I would clone out the little branch on the left.( as Karl has done)
Love the perch, the bird, the IQ.
    Well done

Thanks very much for your comments interest everyone.
I like the rework Karl, I think the slight repositioning makes quite a difference, thanks for taking the time. I originally cropped the image slightly in that position so the end of the side twig would not be seen, I did consider removing it as you did but decided to leave it, I think your version makes for a stronger composition.

    Hi Jon
Very nice. Repost better. I feel the BG needs a bit of something OOF to give a sense of where it is. Just my view.
Not seen a bully in Alder before anyway.

Really fine image of a beautiful little bird Jon, those pinkish/orange feathers are gorgeous, and what a great perch. I actually like your original composition better than the repost, although I like that Karl cloned out the branch.
Lovely image, I like it a whole lot. :-)

An excellent bully image here. Is this a twig brought in or do you have alder in your garden?
