    Default Beach selfie

At Seal Beach, San Diego yesterday. A very very bright day, as you can tell from this. So many people got very close to the seals. Couldn't help sharing this guy who just had to get that necessary selfie. Tried to tone down the brights a bit, cropped quite a bit because I was at a distance, and cloned out one person. Not the greatest photo quality, I know, but just couldn't resist they pose.

I find this impressive on two fronts. One is the wink at the selfie. The other is that the arrangement and curvature of the main elements -- the person, the shadow, and the seal -- nicely define an ellipse that works extremely well to keep the viewer's eyes in the image. Nice work on burying the other person in the sand; I have no idea where.

A humorous image. :-) Interesting what people do. I agree with Dennis' comments. I like how the man's shadow links him to the seal. What must the seal be thinking!

Poor seal :( The age of narcissism will be our undoing.

A commentary on selfies. And I must admit, I always feel privileged when I can get close to a wild animal and yet not disturb it. But I have not yet taken a selfie. I do like the checkered blue shirt against all the dull browns and tans. Plus the awkward, yet interesting pose of the man.

A big smile! If he got that close, what a temptation to try to put an arm around it...
