Probably a love-it-or-hate-it image, but it was a lot of fun photographing this gull and experimenting with backgrounds by moving my position. The gull was still wet from an earlier bath, and I thought the backlighting gave neat texture to those curled feathers. I also like the feathers being pulled in this frame.

Beautiful. Well seen, well captured. I love just the tiniest rim light around the bill and the light on the breast.

    Thank you for sharing Dan!

I'm 50/50 on this one Dan. I love the top 50% with the raised rim lit feathers but the bottom 50% doesn't work as well for me. Wish the beak was silhouetted by the golden water and didn't have the feathers on the chest. Very cool none the less and great job looking at things with an artistic eye. TFS

    Hi Daniel,
I really like it - a different artistic point of view. The golden light and silhouetted look are terrific IMO.

Glad to see you're thinking outside the box. Daniel. Love this silhouette and all the feather details. In a perfect world it would have been even better to see more definition of the beak, but I am liking this.
