The perch could be nicer IMO, but I like the foot-up preening pose. Very good BG.

Hi Keith, real cool image, lovely colours and looks nicely processed with some cracking detail.

I think you could have dropped the ISO a little, as 1/5000 is a little fast, however you certainly nailed it! The raised foot sets this apart.

I like the pose, good details but I also wish for a more natural perch

Well done Keith. Everything has just worked. The BG compliments his post, and legs. Lovely, sharp raised foot.

Thanks Karl,Glennie,Ritesh,Arash think about 50%of my shots finish up on more natural perches ,I sit in my car and look at about half a mile of fence posts and when i see a Snipe jump up to preen and dry after sitting on wet a boggy moor land I then carefully drive up and with a bit of luck get a chance for a shot or two,so it is a bit of a bonus if they care to sit on the post that i would choose. It is perhaps the tops of my photographic year and can't wait for this year if the old leg is up to it.
    Thanks again Keith.

Great image Keith. The perch is what it is and doesn't bother me. I like the diagonal created by the birds bill. You can definitely see that it is preening. The raised foot lifts the image another notch.
