One of more than a dozen hummer species we saw in Trinidad and Tobago last week. This Ruby-topaz was one of the more stunning.

    Bill:

Lovely colors here, between the hummer and the flowers. The relatively small in frame bird with lots of blossoms to visit tells the story nicely.

    Nice lighting.

    Works for me.

    Cheers

I like the way you've framed this loosely Bill, makes a nice change from the more often seen tighter frames with one flower.

You've even been treated to a nice little head turn, nice work. Excellent IQ for a crop camera at that ISO as well.

Hi Bill, I dont think I have seen this HB before, and glad you posted it. Lovely colours on this fellow, and nicely captured hovering pose with the bill just away from the flower. I like the overall DOF effect in the image.

    Hi Bill,
Love the feeling of being immersed in this little guy's environment. A real beauty of a bird. Very nice pose you caught with good IQ. A very fine shot.

Hey Bill, I think that you have captured an award winning image. The background is beautiful and with the main flower in focus and the background flowers slightly OOF, the image is one of pleasing wildflowers as well. With the hummer in their, it's just almost magical. The image portrays harmony, beauty and innocence of wildlife.

Quite a stunner, Bill. Agree with the relatively small in frame gives a wonderful quality of habitat. Picked up the iridescence nicely too.

this is a very pretty image Bill. love the flowers and their arrangement in the frame, the hummer is pretty with stretched wings. the dark parts of the bird have lost detail a bit but I am not sure you could have asked more from your camera at that ISO. very attractive frame

What an awesome looking humming bird and you did a great job capturing it. The colors and the pose are beautiful and I like the colorful habitat FG and BG. Just a tiny bit grainy in the dark belly but such a sweet frame Bill! TFS

Thanks everyone. Your comments are appreciated. The gorget and crown of this guy are hidden more often than not. It was sheer luck that he chose to display them just at the moment that he was in perfect position relative to the flower (and me), with a nice wing position.
