While out one day waiting for something to turn up this chap flew out of the reed bed to my right, my reaction time must of been good because these guys don't hang around when up to speed. I think I managed about 3-4 shots, so was very happy to capture him in flight with a nice BG showing the habitat.

    Alan:

Excellent downstroke pose, nice angle towards us. Background adds a nice sense of depth.

In a perfect world, perhaps not have the large frond right behind the head, but a small point.

I would consider cleaning up the smaller catchlight on the left. Would make the eye appear sharper.

    Great catch, good reflexes!

Look forward to more. And of course, Welcome to BPN!

    Cheers

Well done to catch this, as you say they move very swiftly. Lovely flight pose right on the bottom of the downstroke. Exposure, detail and sharpness excellent.

I like the light, the wing position and the nice BG with elements from the habitat. sharp with good details. I agree with eliminating the 2nd catch light

Great looking duck flight frame. As you stated, these little guys don't just float around once they are up and flying, so catching this beautilul drake with a nice BG and clear details is a great feat. Well one

I would be really happy with this too Alan. You have really framed this well and the oof background showing the subjects typical habitat sets the teal off really well. Great detail and colours captured here too. It is interesting how that 2nd catch light seems to attract ones eye. Well done!

Terrific flight shot. Great wing position, bg, sharp detail. Catchlight noted. Welcome to BPN with this great post. Would look even better at 1200 px.

Wonderful IF of this beautiful Green-winged Teal Alan. Excellent detail and the BG makes such a nice canvas for the Teal.
Agree about cleaning up that smaller catchlight, it will make a noticeable difference. Someone on this forum mentioned it to me a couple of years ago and I've been doing it ever since. :)
    Terrific image, well done.
