Despite the criticisms about the lighting in my earlier posts in this series (all taken within seconds of each other), I really like the dramatic lighting. I don't see a problem with the highlights and shadows, in fact I think they add to the image.

Ed, I agree about the lighting. Very dramatic. I would crop some from the bottom and some from behind the bird although I can see why you would be reluctant to lose that background.

Great find, I like the unusual setting and snack. I wish for a bit more head turn and would desaturate the greens in the BG a few points.

    Hi Ed,

I somewhat agree with you about the light. I think you need a little more fill. I also wish to see more room on top and not so much at the bottom but I have to agree with Axel regarding the head turn and the green in the BG. With that said, you did an excellent job keeping the bird sharp in the frame.

Personally, I think a little more fill would destroy the mood and look unnatural for this type of light. There's plenty of detail in the shadows--they're not blocked at all. It's strange to me that I see so many flight shots in bright sun with blocked-up shadows and they generally aren't criticized.

Hi Ed I would position the bird lower in the frame Don't mind the selected crop at all. I think it enhances the image. Just placing the bird so high leaves no room for him to move into !!!! Excellent image !!!
