This pair of Marbled Godwits were banking in for a landing on a sandbar. I liked that the two birds were in such similar positions.
Nikon D4, 80-400mm @ 400 mm, HH, 1/1600 sec @f5.6, iso 3200. No work to the image other than a significant crop (slightly over 50%), NR and smart sharpen on the in-focus bird.
Thanks for looking, all comments are welcome and appreciated.
Hi Joh
Can,t make my mind up on this one. Main bird spot on. I don't know about the back one. I,ll sit on the fence- see what others think. I am sure the blurred one takes a lot away from the good one.. Difficult one.
Cheers
John
John, I see what you are going for here, but it doesn't appeal to me. I'd create a vertical of the sharp one and quick mask or clone out whatever remains of the blurred one. The sharp bird is nicely focused and a great topside view.
Hi John, I like the idea here. Just wish the blurred bird was not so close to the sharp one. If it were behind instead of ahead this would appeal more to me.
Allen
Hi John, I quite like the juxtaposition of the two birds, and that the nearest one is the one sharp and in focus. I do like the banking angle, and thats an interesting colour to the water.
Thanks all for your comments. Personally, I think I'm with Allen and would have liked this better if the oof bird was behind instead of in front. Given the large crop, don't think this would hold up to elminate the oof bird and crop more. Best solution is to try again this year.
