    Default European Bee-Eater

I took a drive through the nature reserve close to where I live last weekend, and was pleasantly surprised to see these European Bee-Eaters. This is the first decent shot of these guys, so I made the most of the time I was there. The sky not being the best BG, I was happy with this wing stretch. Taken early morning.

Stuart I would not worry about the BG the bird itself more than makes up for that, pose ,colour and sharpness all spot on.

Hi Stu, beautiful bird, lovely colors which work well with the blue background. The wing stretch really shows off the feathers and colors. Thank you for sharing.

Like the wing stretch and the overall sharpness. Wish for a slight head turn towards us and for a more visually interersting BG.

I find the angles to be graphic and full of interest. I'd crop in and eliminate the trailing end of the stick which I feel would help my eyes to remain in the frame and on the bird.

    Stuart:

Beautiful bird, pose shows off the colors well.

As a general rule, if my background isn't as strong as I would like, I tend to crop tighter to make the story all about the subject. I appreciate the stick issue here, but would still consider a tighter crop.

    Cheers

Lovely shot Stu, really gorgeous colours, I see you are more or less ROT's but I would also suggest a slightly tighter crop to reduce the empty space top left and bottom right

Even though its' a blue sky the killer pose and the cool perch make up for it in a big way. Nice job on getting something new. Good work Stu
