    Barn Owl.
Stuck an old gate post in the ground in a field where a bird was quartering.. Put up a pop up hide- got in and the Owl appeared. and sat for about 10 shots. Flew off and never saw it again.

Great story, John, on how you captured this beauty, and your rugged post perch was a great idea. The bird really stands out against the bkg, and I love that penetrating stare. Well done.

This is my nemesis bird, John. Love the pose, perch and the way he's staring right at you. The catch lights aren't looking quite right to my eyes. Considering the distracting BG, I think this owl stands out quite nicely! Glad you had this opportunity. Send one my way please!!!

I like the pose, exposure and perch. Very well done under some challenging light.

    Thanks all
Marina- the eye lights are there in the original but the left one does look slightly brighter. Maybe its the poor light. Some of the others in the series have none at all.

What a reward for your efforts! This owl is beautiful, nice work. As Marina wrote this bird is my nemesis also. Thank you for sharing, John.

    Thanks Joe
We rarely see them around here. I did them at the nest in film days in the 1960,s but this is the only one I have seen "free flying" so to speak. We never get them feeding or flying like so many others seem to.
    One day maybe !

Isn't it great, when it 'all' comes together. Very nice John, perch, BG and Bird.
