Default Going in for the kill

Its been a decent few months in pursuit of Barn owls ,this is one from today that I spotted on my way at first light to a regular spot ,I watched the birds quartering routine as the light was not available for shots ,after watching the routine I set up and waited in hope ,the bird was successful but took the prey on the ground ,this was probably due to a few Kestrel's knocking around and more than liely the bird had been mugged in the past ,still a wonderful sight to witness ...big thanks(again) to Mike pooley for the loan of the 500mm ...500mm f4 with a x1.4 F6.3 iso 800 1/1000 sec +1/3evName: -bpn-(1-of-1).jpg

Patience paid off, they are not easy birds to photograph. I think the camera probably focused on the wing as opposed to the head but still a good shot. I like the exposure and the background, you couldn't have asked for a better positioning of the green grasses.
When shooting action I find I get more consistent results with 500& 1.4TC with a minimum shutter speed of 1/1600 sec.
Was the facial disc in shade? I ask because it appears to be a little noisy. Keep on trying for this one it is obviously going to be worthwhile, look forward to some more!

Beautiful action shot, well captured. A minor suggestion would be to crop off a little of the OOF grasses at the bottom.
