I captured this image (floating in my canoe) of an Osprey flying near its nest on the Nashua River in Nashua NH in warm evening light.

    1/1250 sec at f/8.0, ISO 400
Canon Digital Rebel XT with Canon 100-400L IS, handheld
Noise Ninja with default settings, no additional sharpening

Nice and sharp Kevin! Like the crop. Light was a little tough, although I suspect you could bring out some shadow detail with Shadows/Highlights. A little more eye contact would be nice too. Thanks for posting!

Hi Kevin Dough has some excellent points !! Can add is best to photograph the bird on the up/down stroke. Wings look much better and won't be as much problem with shadows. Not much you could have done exposure wise !!!

Most images you see with luscious under wing detail are made at the beach using the sand as a giant reflector !!!
