    Default Nikon 80-200mm f2.8

My 80-200 has dust particles inside the lens and I have to send it in to Nikon for repair. If you had to choose, do you repair the lens or upgrade to a 70-200vr? I like the 80-200 but would appreciate the faster focusing.

I agree with Al. The 70-200VR is an stelar lens and works really fine. The AF speed is very good. On the other hand I have read about some issues about its performance on a full frame D3 body regarding vignetting and image quality. Many rumours about the possibility of an upgrade of this lens by Nikon but you know... nothing for sure, just vaporware!

Does any one know why there is a shortage of 70-200 in the market?
