A good venture into the OOTB world. Glad you joined us. Interesting application of the oil paint filter especially. I like that the reeds at the bottom add a good straight base to the curved brushstroke looks of the mill and sky. Good colors too.

I like the scene and your layout, and I agree with Hazel about the colors. (I'm a fan of blue and brown together.) The Oil Paint filter works well on the foreground elements, but I'd be inclined to diminish it in the sky so it doesn't compete with the foreground.

David, welcome back to OOTB
This is a lovely scene and as noted above the colors work well together. Your OP is more abstract than Dennis' RP and I like them both. I hope we see you more often in the forum.

Wonderful layers of colors and effects! As Hazel noted, the foreground reeds make an excellent & very interesting lower border, and the vertical component takes your eye up into the image. The skeleton of the bare tree and the tower continue the vertical lines, while the blues & lines of the water and sky add interest as dynamic horizontal elements. Each post conveys a different mood. The OP makes the sky very dramatic as if a storm is approaching. The 2nd image is more like the storm has passed. Please post here often!

This is a nicely composed landscape which lends it self to the chosen filter.

Welcome. Lovely image. I like your processing. The mill seems to have a face, with a cap on top. :-) Interesting lines and pleasing composition. Great colors. I see what Dennis means about the sky, and like his adjustment.

Thanks to all for your kind comments. I enjoyed working on the image and was pleased with the outcome. I will try and post more often.

I like the repost. For my eye, the whole thing could go a bit lighter. Where was the original image made? a
