    Another fruitless day looking for short eared owls but I came across another male stonechat. I applied some NR to the background but not the subject.

    Maybe it is too small in the frame. I would try a vertical if it were mine.

    I'd probably go for vertical here as well, just like Karl says, but it works for the theme for sure. Birds pops nicely from the brown even BG. A little head turn towards you would have been nice. TFS.

    Definitely works for the theme. All that's missing for me is just a bit of head turn.

    Karl I did look at vertical but it didn't seem to fit the theme for me.
    Lorant, Bill the only head turn I got was this one but I preferred the setting of the original post

    I like the simple perch, BG and composition wise I would go vertical as well. The HA is what he gave you. Nice image Jon.

    Sorry Jon but the original post does not work for me. There is no problem with colour or sharpness but the bird is not properly posed to marry in with the surroundings which is quite bland. The second post holds more interest but many will find the fence unattractive, however I'm more forgiving than most in that regard.
