This is a really beautiful photo and I appreciate viewing birds in their habitat; I like the natural colors and to me a blue or pastel colored sky would elevate the image tremendously. Good job and TFS. steve

Thank you for sharing this beautiful image Ann! He's looking at you...and carrying his heart on his back. Love the pose, the habitat sings and the low POV is great. I'm not sure I agree with Steve on the sky. Might be interesting to see what you think.

Wow, very nice shot! And a very interesting head angle too. The reddish heron here doesn't like to do much other than preening.

Nice walking pose Ann, good to have the trailing water from the raised foot too and I also like the slight HA to camera.

Low POV just works oh so well here and to have the combination of both water and reeds (?) provides a nice senesce of the environment. Glad you didn't clip the fine tail feathers, easy to do in the heat of the moment. Personally I might have gone to 1/2500SS as you had plenty of ISO and it would not have hurt the image.

Ann agree this is a very beautiful bird, I especially like the colour on the head and neck and the birds strutting pose, like this natural looking image just the way it is.
