I love the raised crest, and the perch is pretty cool. Nice water and BG (although the greens seem a tad too saturated). I would have sacrificed the other stumps to place the heron closer to the right edge, and from my monitor the very brightest highlights could be tamed. A neat scene, and going vertical was a good call.

    Dan:

Nicely critiqued. The stump he is on is great, but with his pose, and the angle of the light, placing to the right and gazing off into the light to the left, as suggested by Daniel, would be very effective. Also agree on the saturation.

    Cheers

Nice work but I'd desaturate the greens a bit and reduce the faint vertical bar running above the bird's head.

Hi Dan, I like the pose and the multi-colored sunset. You had great suggestions from above already. Don't have more to add. Loi

    Thanks for the comments.
You do not live in Oregon obviously.
Here is the out of camera RAW. I did not exaggerate the greens at all.
I did not do much except crop.
This was taken 2 days ago on Feb.12, sorry to those of you who live where they have winter.
