As their chick looked on, this pair of Skuas fought over a scrap of food. After the contest ended, the victorious Skua fed the chick. The image was captured on Saunders Island, the Falklands.

All C&C are welcome and appreciated.

    Norm:

Excellent story telling image, with action. Good choice on DOF, as even the chick is sharp enough to work here.
In a perfect world, would prefer the chick was a bit less blocked by the adult, but of course in a different position, it might have introduced other issues, such as completely out of DOF, etc.

The bokeh of the bg is a bit busy. I might consider running a gaussian blur or lower the contrast a bit, and even crop off `10% or so from the top.

    TFS the story here.

    Cheers

I too love the story-telling element here. The "tug-o-war" with the chick watching is priceless. Ditto Randy on the critique.

    These skuas can be ruthless

Nice story and well done in getting all three subjects in focus

Agree on BG but the story is strong enough without changing anything

An excellent capture that has interest especially with the juvenile looking on.
