My last post, the winter loon, was perhaps a bit too stark/cool for some tastes, so here is his mate, taken six minutes later. She was in towards the shore, so getting some reflected color. Still fairly dim, fill flash used.
D4 600VR f/4.5 1/500s ISO 1250. SB 900 with better beamer. Pedestal mounted in the bottom of my little boat.
Post: Rotation to level, cropped a bit from the left, as the end of the tail was already missing. I liked the rounded profile of the back as it mirrored the curves of the head/neck and breast and the soft texture on the head and neck. Added canvas below because of the canvas lost with rotation.
Selective sharpening. Luminosity mask to lower whites a bit. Also darkened the reflection a bit.
Advice and comments always appreciated.
Cheers
Randy

Another beauty, although I really liked the last one. As someone pointed out on the previous image, there aren't many of your loonies with fish. It adds nicely to the image.
Hi Randy, you do appear to be the 'Master' of the Loons, another nice image, great to have the fish in the beak.
Is the Flash on or off camera? I'm not sure if you have much more with the rotation, but if you do, then a skiver more below would be nice I think. I might add a slight exp filter from the foot up, just to darken the FG a wee bit, brings a bit more definition out, but you may like the slightly lighter look????
