This underlines the benefit of getting close and shooting only part of an object in making a good photograph. The strong diagonal, the nearly vertical stem, and all the curves work really well together. Very nice contrast in tone and hue between the leaf in front and the one in the back.
Hi, Michael, I like the composition and the contrasting colors of the leaves. The vertical light reminds me of a lightsaber beam![]()

Michael, well seen and captured. Dennis has nicely summarized the image. I particularly like the simplicity.
Wonderful! I can reach out and touch that leaf -- fantastic 3D sculpting. For some reason my subconscious wants to either crop a little off the left of apply a gradient burn there, but it won't engage in conversation as to why. (I'm not usually in touch with my inner self..)
Hi Michael, this is a very strong composition and a well thought-out image. I really like the contrasts that Dennis mentions too. This presentation is a great example of just about my favorite thing in art - the juxtaposition of organic and graphic.

I like the juxtaposition of the shapes, tones, lighting, lines. I am agreeing with Diane's comment while chuckling about her not being in touch with her inner self. My inner self says that the left side is so very bright that it is hard to look away from it to other parts of the image. I think toning it down a bit (still preserving the difference between back lit and front lit) and cropping just a bit off the left improves the image. I really like the graphic and semi abstract nature of this image.
