I usually find these birds foraging on top of jetties where they run to eat what the waves have washed up. In this instance, two birds were foraging at the base of a jetty among the slipper shells.

That streak of yellow was too saturated so I toned it down in post and removed a small part of a second bird.

i think i like this purple sandpiper the best from your series this year. composition, and the slipper shell floor. The gradient BG is very complimentary to the bird, love the drop on the end of the beak. well done

I really like the pose and colors on this guy and the colorful beach it's standing on adds a nice pop to the image. Well done Grace.

Very nice bird, great colors, nice pose. The pebbles are super as foreground , the rock makes a great BG. My only issue is with the rock edge running through the bird in the BG. I wish the distant rock could cover everything. Still very nice and thanks for sharing.

Hi Grace , overall a very pleasing image , well composed and i specially like the muted colors and tones in this post .

Lovely work !!! For sure i can see a version with more tonal depth and punch , but that might go away too far from original scene , just thought .

I enjoyed viewing this image , TFS Andreas

This image fits the theme so well. There is so much interest with the environment here, and the pose and comp are just right. Great job on the PP bc your bird really stands out

I agree with Ann...this is my favorite Purple Sandpiper image you have posted to date. It even looks like there are flower petals strewn within the shells. Great job!
