    Default Just chilling

While I was sat enjoying the sun in the quarry I was joined by this juvenile kestrel who sat within 30 feet of me ,not concerned one bit, one of those moments when you are sat at home with nature free of charge...canon 1d mk3 400mm 5.6 iso 400 1/1250 sec Name: Just-chilling--(1-of-1)-3.jpg

I like the little tufts on top of the head. Good head turn, sharp on the face and shoulders/upper back - then some expected dof fall-off which I am OK with. I do find the saturation a bit strong though. Would you have been able to get up a bit higher without spooking the subject? I bet that was quite an exciting encounter!

Must have been a wonderful time. Love the relaxed pose of your subject. I see that Daniel commented on the saturation and I agree. Thanks for sharing this moment, quite special.

I was already in situ when the bird landed ,I was lucky enough to get this shot handheld so any other movement would have spooked him

    That's what I thought.

    The reduces saturation looks good!

Excellent shot Dennis, I think I shall have to start looking around any local quarries!

What a blessed moment this must have been! You obviously made the most of it. The RP works better. By desaturating the BG you have given more attention to this stunning raptor. I just love how the young birds are more apt to ignore humans!
