Hi folks , another frame for this month theme taken during my stunning trip to South Georgia in 2012.
Lots of stunning moments happened during that trip like the enormously big elephant seals in great numbers and the hundreds of thousands of penguins in some places .
Here is just a small time capture with some species .... birds and mammals in one frame .
Just for info the Gentoo penguins are roundabout 80 - 90 cm in height ...... maybe you can imagine the size of that bull ...........

    F 8 ; Iso 1000 ; 1/500 sec man exp

Processed with Capture One as DPP is currently on strike on my system , and PS CC . Cropped for comp from the top , i wish for a wider view of this scene for more room to the left to avoid the cutting of the back flipper . But i lost it sadly .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - I'm not sure that the penguins aren't the principal subject here but we'll let it slide on this one. I like the black beach, the misty atmosphere and the bull rearing up. I would prefer a bit more room below and to the right.

Hi Andreas -- I am not sure whether it fits this months theme , the penquins look like the main subject but anyways this image has a great feel to it, the raised huge Seal is adding to this image . I also feel some more space to the right would have been better but nonetheless the settings are amazing , enjoyed viewing this .

Wow that bull looks HUGE!! is that his breath or mist or was your lens fogged up from the cold?

Love how the penguins pop against the dark sand

Is that a Skua bottom right?

Hi Andreas, a tough call on the Exposure with the high contrast of Whites & Black, looks good, especially for the MKIII although the highlights can come down a bit. Not something I tend to use, but have you tried Dehaze for the top BKG?

    A very cool frame here!
I too would let it slide for the theme give your DOF and that the mammals do hold as much interest for me as the birds. The colour contrast is stark...
So wish to see this, sadly probably not a trip I am going to make sometime soon.

Thank you so much folks for your various comments , much appreciated .
Rachel , Haseeb ... for me it qualifies for this month theme , as the penguins are more a side thing for me and not the main point of interest . You might get the impression as they are a bit more pronounced due to the overall tonality ... i could not get the same strong tonality in the seals , because then i would have lost the foggy look and feel of the original capture .
I personally think i have already gone too far .

    Thanks again Andreas
