    Default Raven fledgling

My photographer friend and I discovered two Ravens "talking" to each other on the roof of a building close by, at Sackville, NB. The two birds flew into some spruce trees and continued to chatter to each other. We approached slowly and they were willing to let us photograph them as they hid in the spruces. Turns out they were newly fledged, as evidenced by the pink, fleshy bit in the corner of the mouth. Adult ravens tend to be very wary but these young ones seemed to trust us. All we really ever saw was the heads of the birds so this is all you get!

Cropped, ran noise reduction on BG and selective burning and dodging to even out contrast a bit; other usual processing.

    Comments welcome.

    Hi John,
I really like this one. Great detail and clarity (especially the eye). The colors are nice too and I like the way the lower OOF branches provide a frame for the face. The slightly sharper branches on top add to the image's "peek into the woods" feel.
