Another from Barnegat. Last one from me, for now. This is very similar to one Geoffrey posted last week. We must have tripped the shutter at the same moment, but from slightly different vantage points.

D7200, 80-400 VR @ 270mm, ISO 1000, 1/2500s @ f/7.1 manual; HH. Full-frame but cropped a bit from RHS and added corresponding sliver to LHS.

An interesting view looking down on this Sandpiper. The perch looks slightly precarious. The extended leg and spread foot for balance is a great plus, and I like that the line matches with the vertical line in the rock. The composition is just right for displaying the beautiful purple feathers on its back. The turned up feather tells us the wind is blowing and with the mottled background all adds to that precarious feeling. Details of the Sandpiper all look good and it is positioned just right to separate it from the rock. Very nice image.

Hi Bill, I like this photo very much mostly because of the rock perch and great background ... also I have never seen a Purple Sandpiper. No nits from me!

All said above. Very nice story here, with image quality to match! The detail on the purple feathers is wonderful.

nice Bill, I like his delicate balance and the yellow feet against the rock texture, complete with the waves in the BG. sharp and detailed.

The white-ish background (compared to the previous blue ones) is a nice change...not that I like it better, just another beautiful image of this bird to add to your portfolio. Wish it were mine!

Like your version very much, Bill. Great detail and like the frothy inlet BG. Good look, and detail of the purple feathers too.
