Default Imperious Snow Walker - Trumpeter swan on a mission

    Attached Images Attached Images

This young trumpeter was striding out with authority this am. Couldn't resist the twist on Star Wars history. (Yes, I know it was an Imperial Snow Walker, but I thought this version fit the picture better )

    D4 500mm AFS f/7.1 1/5000s ISO 640 Hand held.

Post: Added canvas to the left with small crop from right. Selective sharpening. Bit of detail extractor on whites.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Hi Randy, another cracking image, love the trailing snow from the feet, head/neck projected forward and wings outstretched. The shadow provides a nice anchor within the snowy environment. PP looks very good too, all in all, a very nice presentation of this subject.

PS The glistening snow flakes is a cool touch.

Love your image, Randy. You caught him/her in mid-stride. Techs that I will study to improve mine. Thank you for sharing.

Quite whimsical! I like it a lot, from the running pose, to the glistening snow. Perfect handling of the whites. I think I would have preferred the swan a tad lower in the frame, but good call on extending the canvas at right.

This image is full of movement. Whites are great.
Love it when ungainly birds walk on snow-always makes me smile.
I like the "diamonds in the snow".
Is the dark neck natural coloring or a dirty neck?
    PP looks good,

Thanks folks for the comments. I thought it was a pretty funny pose.

Gail: Because it is a young bird, they def. have more dark on head and wings. The sharpening did darken it a bit further. I will have to work on avoiding that in the future. Good question.

    Cheers

A fun image that made me smile. Great walking pose, and I love all the little highlights in the foreground.

Hi Randy, super action pose captured here, and well timed to get the raised foot. I like the different hues of winter here, and in turn, very well exposed all over, and with the sharpness spot on.

I think this is probably one of the best shot of the trumpeter that I have ever seen. I really like the playfulness in this one. And the Star Wars twist, LOL!

Hello Randy I like it very much.
For me a bit more space in front (if you have cropped to no cut the shadov and less behind..
Could also tray to invert the shoot to give it more dinamic idea.
    Well done!

Love this one, Randy. The struggle for these big birds to take off is well displayed as is the feeling of winter/cold. Nice, clean, and a treat to view.

Nice walking pose, no one mentioned, but it needs a bit of CCW rotation to me, good exposure.

This one brought a smile on my face. Very very nice, awesome control on the white on white. Love the snow, the pose and the butt dragged behind:). TFS.

Hi Randy this is another very nice frame of this series .
Whatīs not to like about this !!!
Nicely timed and composed in capture .
As a personal note i might temper the contrast in the blacks and 3/4 tones , a wee bit heavy just for my taste . And watch the sharpening halo running along the neck
