An Orange-crowned warbler in early Dec., Dartmouth, NS, Canada. Taken with Nikon D7100 and 300 F4-PF-VR + 1.4 TC. Hand-held. 1/1000, f5.6, ISO250. Raw file processed in LR, with vertical crop to include the bird and the leaves, and optimization of WB, sharpness etc. Any comments welcome, and thanks for looking.

I like it Richard. My only nit would be that there are a lot of distractions going on here that take my attention away from the bird, but when dealing with natural perches and wild animals its not easy to get them to pose when and where we want. Great Pic. :)

Very nice catch! The OOF branch in front of the bird's foot would have been better avoided, but it looks like that could have been very difficult. This was probably a fleeting glance and you were skilled to catch it. If the bird was perched there for a few minutes before, it would have been ideal to move a little to the left to "move" the OOF branch over the foot, and possibly a little lower and closer to move the one touching the tops of the leaves. One advantage of hand-holding is more speed and flexibility in slight adjustments to your shooting position. But that's always easier to say than to do.

The exposure, detail and colors are very nice!

Would be fun to play with just a bit loser crop on the left, but maybe there was something distracting there. All in all, very well done! Hope to see more!

Two tiny little nits Richard, the twig that crosses the birds foot is a real shame and would love to see the eye a little lighter if you were so inclined, don't mind the busy bg that's where the bird lives, the bird itself looks lovely with a nice pose and looks sharp .Very nice piece of work.

Sorry, getting late to the party Richard. I like the cute little bird with his leaf umbrella. Nits already picked with the OOF branch in front. I agree with Keith and feel the eye could be a bit brighter/lighter. There is some smudgey looking OOF branches mid RHS. I would also be inclined to clone out.

    Well done!

I would love to see some more!

I like your composition. It's part of a story. And the colors are marvelous. The stems and leaves frame the bird, almost cuddling it. Beautiful focus. I suppose I like your photograph.
