Default Like a kestrel = Kingfisher

I have taken this picture on the spanish Island Mallorca (Majorca) in an local nature reserve (Àlbufera) in October 2015.

I was very pleased , that the bird has made a short stationary flight, so i was able to catch him in this situation over water from my hide.

I hope you like the my little bird in the frame.

Hi Eric, I really like this, totally 'off the wall', a really cool image.

I think you could go more pano 16x9, however I'm not sure if less below, or above, WDYT?

    A pleasure to view.

Hi Eric, lovely colours on this juvenile Malachite Kingfisher, and looks pretty sharp for the small in the frame. Great that you captured the wings in a swept back position. The KF pops nicely from the BG.

That's a pretty cool and unique image. I don't remember ever seeing a small in the frame KF on this site or maybe ever! The bird just lights up!!

Great image Eric! I like the loose composition, sharp KF, wing position and colors of the environment match the KF very well.

    Thank you untill here..
but Stu, this was not a juvenile malachite Kingfisher, it was a common european Kingfisher (adult, female Alcedo atthis)

and 16-9 could be an idea, thx.

Very fun image with the little jewel flying in the huge space. Not a common way of approach and I like it a lot. Well done, Eric.

This is lovely Eric. I love watching them hover, had one do it right outside my hide last year, and the separation with the BG is top notch.

    What a nice image!
I agree with Steve's 16 x 9 crop suggestion. The light on the kingfisher is wonderful.
One of your best shots Eric,

What a pleasant surprise to open the thread and see this beauty. Small in the frame works so well here I believe because of the colors. No one has mentioned it but the white, top right, could go in my opinion. Well done!

What a pleasing image, small in the frame really works here. A beautiful Background and nice light on that beautiful Kingfisher.

Well done! As said above, this works very nicely as a Small-in-Frame image. The colors make her pop, wings are in a nice position, and the bird appears sharp. Also perfectly placed in the frame.

Well done Eric. This is one of the best images of a kingisher I've seen. The hint of the environment in the background tells a lot, without being obtrusive.
