    Hello,
Never thought I would be interested in photography, but after tagging along with couple of my photographer friends, I started getting interested and got my first DSLR.
Now looking forward to weekends to have opportunity to take pictures and enjoy the outdoors. Best of all I got to know really cool photographers.

Hi, This is the first time on this site and I too am new to Photography. I like your image however it is a little soft. All the readings that I have done in the past 6 months tell me that you shutter speed should be higher than your focal length. therefore you shutter speed should have been 1/500 or higher. I hope you don't mind my sharing what I have learned and perhaps you can point me in the right direction someday. regards

Ali and Joe, welcome to both of you! Check out the Eager to Learn forum -- we have a lot going on there and this would be a good image to post there.

Hope to see lots of participation from both of you!

Warm welcome to BPN. You obviously have an eye for a artistic image. Why don't you post the same image over in the EAger to Learn Forum and let those members have a stab at helping you with it?

Welcome to BPN Ali. It was nice to meet and shoot some images with you on Saturday at the marina. Look forward to seeing some more images.

    Joseph,

Thank you for helping me get a better results, I have noticed many shots I took got soft in focus. I will keep in mind to increase the shutter speed above the focal length.
    I appreciate all your comments...

Perhaps you or someone could give me a running description on how and where to download my images. Duh!

Quite a while ago I was trying to bug people to post this clearly and in an easy-to-find place. I've just looked for it and I can't find it either!

There should be a thread at the top of each forum which clearly describes how to download an image. Let me know if it's not there.

The only place I see the directions is in the Eager to Learn...but even that is easy to miss, the title is basically Please Read.
Maybe something a little more descriptive.

Avian and Wildlife there's nothing. I didn't check the others, but I'm sure they're probably the same.

It's practically invisible with no thumbnail -- my "own" forum and I didn't find it!!

This needs to be fixed so it's much easier to find if we want to encourage new people here. It also needs to be updated -- it's pretty old.

OK Ali, someone else pointed out that it is a sticky at the top of the BPN Help forum:

Hi Ali - Another warm welcome to BPN. To start off with the critique process, you can get your feet wet in the Eager to Learn Forum (ETL) found here: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...Eager-To-Learn

You can post any type of image in ETL. Once you are comfortable with your images and the critique process, you can move on and post in the various forums such as Avian, Wildlife, Macro, Landscapes, Out of the Box or Story Sequences depending on the subject matter and processing involved. At the top of each forum is a description of the forum.

    Again welcome,
    Rachel
