    Default Theme: Plucked and Unplucked

Greetings. These are the endangered Ae'o (aka Hawaiian stilt) doing what stilts do. From my recent trip to Maui.

At a quick glance, this looks like a flip but it's much better. The slight effect of the water on the birds and the different perspective of the reflection makes a big difference. I like the boldness of the colors, too.

Great image with those reflections and the bright solid blue background! Love how the legs each form a continuous line from real bird down to reflected bird, and that there is only one leg visible per bird. It makes for a strong graphic element in addition to the graphic-ness of black and white birds. Excellent title !

Striking image with an interesting effect. Not sure about the placement of the four points of interest so symmetrically in the frame. I'm wondering about moving the rightmost bird a little to the left, reducing the distance between them.

Nice. Love the colors and the simplicity. I like how the birds mirror each other, yet, are a bit different in posture. Perfect. Lovely reflection. What is the white thing in the beak of the left bird? I find it distracting, though it is probably significant for the image. I might crop from bottom, a bit on the right and a bit more on the left.
    I like this minimalist image.

    Dennis, Nancy, Diane, Anita,

Thanks much for your comments. They are much appreciated.

Anita, the white puff is a feather recently plucked. The Impressions wiped out the feather detail. Thought of returning it.

Diane, yeah, the symmetry is less than optimal. I liked your idea of moving the left bird in closer. It breaks up the radial symmetry formed but the 4 backs.

A little off the bottom and both sides. Other than centered didn't work for me though.

    Cheers,

I like your repost! Centered works for me since it's so symmetrical. The black and white birds with nice reflections and simple blue background create a striking graphic image.
