    I captured this Mute Swan take off in Jan. of 2015 at a local lake in late afternoon. C&C welcome.

    D700, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 TC, 1/500s, f 9.0, ISO 250, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

    Add more space to the left side in cs6.

    Even for a big slow flying bird like this one, you did well to freeze the action as much as you did. I generally shoot for at least 1/1000s for swans, and you certainly could have traded ISO and aperture to give yourself a bit more margin here.

    I like the giant yellow feet, flying drops, full up wing position.

    Just for personal taste, I might be tempted to trim back the edge of the ice where it comes so close to the swans head.

    All looks good to me though I suspect a large print may reveal a bit of subject movement/blur. nice work Geoffrey.
