    Default Whooper Swan & cygnet

    The Whooper Swan can be quite skittish, but I considered myself lucky to approach this parent and it's cygnet while in Iceland. They were relaxing on a bluff overlooking a bay. The cygnet was discovering the ranges of wing motion it could do while still on the ground. C&C welcome.

    D3s, Nikon 500mm, 1/2500s, f 8.0, ISO 400, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

    Nice "relaxed " family shot. Don't normally like plain BGs but this suits fine. Ireckon the flowers add something too.

    I like the flowers as well, works well with yellow on the bill. Always fun to see the youngsters learning about their bodies, what to do with their wings.

    In a perfect world, would like the parents head to be turned a bit our way.
