Beautiful, well detailed and excellent colours, the owl is spot on and the background is highly complimentary - congratulations I am sure you were delighted with this.. and at ISO 640 I am envious!!

Lovely! I normally like the faces evenly lit, but here, one eye in light and one in shadow adds interest. The two that are here on Long Island for the winter are totally nocturnal. Do yours come out and hunt during the day? Envious of your ss!

    Thanks, Grace.
There were one male and two females/or male juveniles at that location.
Two were fed by various people, but this one according to some locals, had no interest for handout and was always hunting on his/her own.
This was one of those moments when he/she swooped down from a post.
This guys hunt daytime but early morning and late afternoon.
I have been watching them for over a decade now during winter here in Ontario.

This is, for me, one of the best frames you've posted here Eric.

Beautiful light and the wing position is perfect for this type of head on shot - wings up or down wold have made you go smaller in frame.

I spent a few hours yesterday trying for something very similar but the owls forgot to turn up! That makes me doubly envious of this shot!

A lot to like here. Well chosen crop, good eye contact, interesting light and good placement of the bird over the green BG not getting into the blue. Well done, Eric.

I love this, i really do. Im a big fan of SEOs and this image does a lot of justice to show how beautiful these birds are in flight. The multi hued background only adds to the beauty.
