    Default Gannet

    Hi

Took a trip to Bempton Cliffs last summer and spent about 6 hours doing flight shots of the Gannet and Fulmars which was hard work handholding a 500mm!!! An exhausting experience and felt quite dizzy after peering over the cliff top for so long.

This is one of only two shots that I took of perched birds.

    Shots with 1Dmk2N and 500mm lens at ISO250 F5.6

    Cheers

Great pose, setting, BG and exposure control, Rich. I might give it a bit more room at the bottom.

Ah the Gannet. Such cool looking birds. Great BG and exposure.

Beautiful image Rich. Excellent work on the exposure, with nice details in the whites and blacks. You've also captured the perfect head turn for the backside pose. Nice for one of two captures!

A very nice image. I like the look back pose. Agree a bit more room on the bottom would be nice.

Very nice image Rich - that place is on my 'must visit' list this year :-)

I love this shot Rich, the techs, the pose and the bg are all great. I wonder why this bird seems to garner less attention than it should. I have seen some fantastic shots of this species and they never seem to get many replies:confused:
