    Default Grand Central Terminal

It's not easy to make a photograph of Grand Central Terminal that doesn't look like hundreds of others on the web. I am hoping that the composition helps set this one apart, as well as the subtle HDR effect, which I created by combining 3 images. Critiques are welcome.

Geometrically, the image is fairly symmetrical. However, that is countered to a minor extent by the lighting and to a greater extent by the painting on the ceiling, and I like that. You did a good job including the entire windows at the end and wall hangings on the sides. I like the green and gold together, too. Did you do something in processing to make the center window at the end brighter than the ones on each side of it?

The green and gold color combo is most effective. The graceful arc of the constellations nicely contrasts with the symmetry of the rest of the image.

Thanks, Dennis and Gary. Dennis...I didn't do anything to make the center window brighter...it was just a little overexposed, and the combination of the 3 images at different exposures didn't correct it as much as I would have like.

I kinda like it that way.

    Wendy,

Greetings. The color is particularly striking especially the gold. Detail seems just right. The center of the ceiling seems a little washed out (perhaps the hdr?). You might darken that just a bit. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

I really like the semi-abstract quality of this perspective with lots of repeating and interesting shapes and just two basic colors. All the strong diagonal lines pull my eyes to the low center of the 3 windows. I like that they are a bit different in brightness, with the middle one being the brightest. This has a very nice symmetry with just enough variation in the elements, especially the astronomy depiction in the ceiling! I think you very much achieved your goal of a unique perspective.

WooHoo! I like it a lot! The orange and green capture my attention. Outstanding composition! Perfectly balanced. How wide was the lens you used? I love the designs in the ceiling and that they are orange. They offer a bit of lightness. Gorgeous details. Excellent work.
