NZ Fantail
NZ Fantail - Rhipidura fuliginosa
This image of the little fantail was taken with my first DSLR; a little Canon 400D. (Rebel XTi in US) These little birds are cheeky and bold.
DOF falls away quickly and there seems to be a halo around the bird, that I didn't notice before. Perhaps he could be a bit brighter?
Canon 400D
Lens - EF 70-200mm f4 USM @ 98mm
1/250 sec @ f4
ISO 100
Evaluative metering
Hand held
In ACR - Highlights, Whites, Blacks and Shadows all moved to the Right. HSL Sliders - red, orange and yellow to the right, blue to the left.
In PSCS6 - NR on BG, Vibrance and Levels layers. Some branches cloned out. Cropped and smart sharpened for posting.
C&C Always appreciated and welcomed!

I love this. I don't think I would change a thing.

Amazing. 1/250 HH and the focus is sharp. I like the perch and BG. They work for me. Beautiful work. I agree about lightening the bird a bit. Thanks for this.

Maybe we don't need all this fancy new equipment. (Every so often I unearth an oldie that isn't too bad.)
Extremely cute and perky-looking little bird, with gorgeous BG color that is perfect for his (her?) coloration. I love the gold in the LR corner! Blacks and whites look great here -- good work!
Great cloning job, but I'm not sure I'd object to the original BG except for the diagonal branch in the UR and the one coming out of the tail. But then I've always been a fan of shallow DOF. But also always been a fan of intense tack-sharpness (somewhere in the image), which leads to emotional conflicts.
Keep 'em coming!

Glennie, this is lovely. You have a painter's mind. Thanks for the great image!
PS: I don't see a halo.
