    Taken in breeding season last summer, not the easiest bird to capture while not in flight as the sit on the edge of cliff tops with a very big drop in to the sea ,I got as close as my nerves would take me for this shot...canon 1d mk3 300mm f4 at 5.6 1/800sec iso 250 +1/3ev handheld ,its not the finished article a its a pretty large crop and I would eventuallyName:  Gannet-edit-(1-of-1)-2.jpg

    Handsome comp of a striking bird. Beautiful BG color that works very nicely with the Gannet's coloration. The fine detail has suffered from the large crop. I would love to get a close shot of one of these beauties.

    Hi Dennis,
    If you ever go to Bonaventure Island Quebec, you can get as close as you want to them. The trick is to have separation as there are about 70'000 of them nesting there.
    I like your image, looks nice. Maybe a little less canvas at the top.
