    Default Twilight loon and chick

This pair was captured several years ago on a northern Michigan lake. Almost 8:30 pm, with trees rimming the lake, and light coming from the right. I was just about done for the day when this scene unfolded. I was using flash to try and balance out the patchy illumination through the trees.

D700 600VR with TC14, f/6.3 1/500s ISO 1000. SB900 with Better Beamer. Pedestal mounted in my little boat, Loonie Too.

Post: Slight rotation, noise reduction on bg, selective sharpening on birds, cleaned a few spots in the water.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Hi Randy, your usual great eye level perspective from your boat. Good use of subtle flash, which together with the available light has brought out the sheen on the Loons head so well. Love the show of the foot of junior, and the fuzzy plumage. Your water BG's at this location always round off your Loon images nicely.

lots to like about this pair . I like the small bow wake, the slight head turn and the chick's foot. nice flash work and a terrific image.

Wonderful image Randy, excellent use of flash. The little one riding on the back of the parent is super cute.

Another beauty. You always manage to capture a lovely velvety tone on the loons' heads. And such beautiful bg. And the low Loonie POV. Always eager to see more of these.
