    Gerhard:

The expression and angle of body into the frame makes a strong impression, seems grumpy! Well exposed, sharp on the face, background colors compliment the feather and eye colors.

In a perfect world, a bit more illumination of the eyes would have been nice.

    Is this a wild bird?

    Cheers

Beautiful looking portrait. Lovely colours and details. If this is a wild bird, it is a tremendous capture.

Hi Gerhard, love the expression on this fellow, and you have captured and brought excellent detail on the face. I agree with Randy, lightening the eyes wont harm the image.

This is a new species for me. Never knew about their existence. Lovely portrait and excellent feather details. Composition and pose really make this a strong image

Wow -- what a portrait! I love the angled intense pose. Agree about the eyes.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions to improve the eyes! Sadly this is a wild bird in rehab following injury, hence the daytime portrait opportunity. Hopefully it will recover and be released soon.
