I finally got a chance to get my camera out last weekend for the first time since joining the group and got to edit them this weekend.
    Canon 7d, 400mm f/5.6 lens, 1/5000 sec., f/6.3, ISO 1000.
Processed in Lightroom. Cropped, highlights -100, shadows +60, whites +25, blacks -15, clarity +30. Tone curve adjustments (highlights -32, lights -20, darks +32, shadows +38) luminance in NR 67, and then I brushed in contrast 33, clarity 29 sharpness 38.

I think I should have used less ISO but it is what it is.

Congratulations on your BIF, Jack. But the bird is going in the wrong direction. Just kidding. I made a similar shot of a Red-tailed Hawk at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area several years ago. The bird looks nice and sharp around the eye and head. Of course we can't change the environment where we find the birds too much, but this one does look a bit lonely up there.

Wow --- this is very nice!! And I like your processing and the results you got. I'll bet it was quite a change from what it looked like when it first opened in the converter.

Shooting birds in flight isn't easy -- you did very well here. Hoping to see more!

This is great! I'm yet to get a good BIF. I liked to see all the adjustments you've made in LR to get this result. The only nit I have with this...I know birds generally have two wings, but the wing tips coming from his back is a little troubling for me. I'm not sure if I would get rid of them altogether?

    Beautiful image Jack!

    Keep 'em coming!
