This is my first image of 2016. Ive just returned from two weeks in Cape Town, and this is an image from one of my early outings. Taken at the waterworks in early morning light. The BG is the back of the iconic Table Mountain.

Nice banking pose, good colors and the bird has a good positioning above the mountain contour line. I could imagine a slight more turn towards you, but nice as it is. TFS.

Good flight pose and I love those trailing legs. The bird stands out well from the 'iconic' background.

The flight position is spectacular, with curving neck, fully banking wings and trailing legs. Likewise the light and color, and a good bg. I only wish the lighter areas in the lower bg weren't there, as I find them a bit of a distraction from the beautiful bird.

Hi Stu, nice control of the whites & blacks here. Agree with Bill about the lower section, nothing you could do, but could this work, albeit a bit tight at the foot.

Thanks Steve. Taking off the bottom works out quite well. I agree the bottom half really bugged me, but at the time of posting, I didnt want to change the original.

Looking forward to the rest of the images from your trip Stu.

I quite like the original, I find the rocks show a sense of perspective, obviously I don't know the location, but with the OP it makes you think the shot was taken up high in the mountains. Maybe the 2 main rocks on the left third just need burning a touch.

Beautiful flight pose though, great colours

    Mike

We don't see these guys in flight too often so congrats on getting this one. The banking pose with the long neck and the trailing legs is awesome and the colors look fantastic. He looks great against that dark Table Mountain background. Very nice frame. Keep them coming Stu.

You are off to a stellar start with your vacation pics!
I have never seen a flamingo in flight and have always wondered how they hold their head and neck.
Great top side view.Tack sharp and exposure is spot on. You get a 9.9 for this but I would have given you a 10/10 if he was flying more towards you.
I find the whitish areas at the bottom of the frame distracting but you need the room so I would clone the area in.

Hi Stu - I'm late to this but welcome back. Beautiful flight pose, sharpness and exp control. Either comp works for me with a slight preference for the one without the lighter areas though do prefer the space of the op.

    Rachel

Excellent image Stu! I like the curved neck, setting, sharpness and the repost with some off the bottom works for me.
