    Default Red Grouse -Female

We have a handful of these birds locally ,they do like to pose on rocks and if you sit it out you usually get your chance of a shot...canon 1d mkiv 400mm 5.6 at 5.6 iso 800 1/800sec +1/3 ev handheld Name: Female-Grouse-(1-of-1).jpg

I must say, that's a killer frame! If this were my target species for a shoot, I couldn't have dreamt up a better situation. Awesome pose, sweet feather details, a great smooth varied BG and cool looking lichen covered rocks.. Nice. Your best post to date IMO.

Hi Dennis, love the eye level perspective, super pose, sharp, and showing lovely feather detail. Great to see the lichen covered rocks too. Im not familiar with this species, but Im seeing a slight green cast on the grouse - I could be wrong.

    Dennis:

I love the repeating forms in this one, the rounded bird, on the round rocks. Soft bg, perfect pose, big feet!

I agree about a bit off the top. 10-15% of the free space above the birds head might work nicely.

    Cheers

Beautiful image Dennis! I like the pose, rocks, details, BG, composition and feather patterns.
