    Default Puffin

    Hi

Took a trip up to the Farne Island off north-east England this week. Unfortunately my booked trip coincided with a foggy day, although this did not deter the constant stream of puffins flying into the island with sandeels

    Taken with 1Dmk3 and 500mm lens at ISO 400, F5, +0.67EV, 1/1600s.

    Cheers

    Rich

Wow! Incredible photo! I would only try to liven up the eyes a little.

Maybe a tad more contrast and agree about the eyes. Other then that you got the photo I tried to get in Alaska last year to no avail. One to be proud of.

Excellent head-on shot, love the motion blur of the wings. Agree with the above re: eyes.

Great incoming pose, it really shows how fast the wing flap is. The sandeels add to it. Good suggestion regarding the eye.

Super head-on image! Although the sky is dull, the action and pose more than makes up for it. The wing blur is beautiful.

Thanks for the replies. I would be interest in suggestions on how the eyes could be enlivened. IF you are ever in the UK in the summer then put the Farnes Islands on your places to visit. My main recommendation would be to take a could hat with you though as the Arctic Terns take great pleasure in attacking the visitors heads.

    Cheers
