    Default Short eared Owl

    I know of quite a few Short eared owl locations but my issue is only owning a 400mm 5.6 I just cant get them near enough(that is without trespassing on farm land that I don't have permission to go on) and that I wont do,i have spent the last three days photographing three different owls,the Barn owl on New years day,little owl yesterday and today the short eared owl,i have a few head on shots still to be processed yet ,however this is one from today taken with the canon 500mm mki kindly loaned to me by Mike Pooley (many thanks )....Canon 1d mkiv 500mm with a x1.4 iso 1250 1/640 sec +1/3 ev Name:  short-eared-owl-Jan-3rd-2016-(1-of-1)-6.jpg

    Despite the somewhat unorthodox pose and wing positions I like this for the sharpness and the soft BKGR colors. Are those buildings on the right horizon? A

    Thanks for taking time to comment, the building in the background is a small pavilion ,unfortunately the bird decided that's the area he was going to hunt in

    Very nice shot, sharp with good exposure and a nice BG except for those bright buildings which was a bummer.
